Medical oversight is a key component of treating the whole professional and an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team. Rachel Mackessy-Lloyd is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, and addiction. She works with both Whole Professional’s as well as clients’ mental healthcare team to collaborate and develop a plan that enables our clients to achieve mental and physical well-being goals.
Rachel practiced internal medicine for eight years prior to receiving her psychiatric certificate where she honed an approach grounded in the interpersonal theory of nursing, including strong influences of cognitive behavioral therapy. She is especially interested in mood disorders, anxiety, and addiction psychiatry.
Rachel is nationally board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and licensed to practice independently as a PMHNP in Maryland and Washington, DC. This licensure includes prescriptive authority. She completed a Masters in Nursing at George Mason University and a PMHNP certificate from George Washington University.
